Our Mission

To provide opportunities for each Butler Community College freshman to meet peers on a social level, connect with student leaders, faculty and staff in an environment outside the traditional college setting and develop a sense of Grizzly pride; making possible a more successful transition from high school to college.

Our Purpose

Welcome Week Orientation is designed to aid in the social engagement process and ease the transition from high school to college, specifically, Butler Community College. It is a structured program for incoming freshman residents intended to establish friendships, meet student leaders, become familiar with Butler traditions, rules and regulations, and learn about Butler campus life in a fun and relaxed environment.

Welcome Week Orientation allows students to get acquainted through a variety of recreational activities, group discussions, and evening mixers. This will allow students to meet as many of their peers as possible. They will have opportunity to play sports and games, enjoy leadership and teambuilding exersices, and even participate in peer group discussions. We encourage them to meet and learn as much as they can from their Welcome Week Orientation counselors, RA's and fellow students. Topics for discussion will include Grizzly Spirit, getting to know your roomate, living in El Dorado, and how to navigate the college experience from an insider's point of view.

This experience shoul provide them with valuable information about coping with college and learning the ropes as a Grizzly. Who knows - they may just meet their new best friend!
